To me, there is nothing better than waking up and feeling completely inspired. I think one of the keys to inner happiness is keeping busy – and to me, keeping busy means chasing goals and learning more about the things I’m passionate about.
That being said, we’ve all had those horribly lethargic days when our brains just don’t seem to want to work well. The perpetual Monday – I loathe it. So, whether it’s for work or a workout, here are four simple ways to keep motivated and stay focused.
1 Be Disciplined
Discipline is so important, whether you like it or not. I think to be successful at anything, you have to stick to your original plan. Set alarms, set deadlines – and stick to them. Don’t allow yourself to slack off.
2 Set targets
Another really simple but easy way to stay motivated is to write down goals. When I know I have a lot of work to get through, I make a to-do list. It’s great to see those little items ticked off – no matter how small. At the gym, I set myself time or calorie targets.
As a wise person once said, ‘if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.’
3 Try something new
If something isn’t working, figure out what that is and try something different. When I’m working from home instead of in the city, I go to a nearby library or coffee shop for the day. It works for me – sitting in my room doesn’t. If an exercise routine is boring you, try a different machine. Use a different playlist.
4 Keep going
Finally, I think the most important way to stay motivated is to just keep persevering. Stop listening to your inner doubt and just keep trying. Stop being so hard on yourself when things don’t go your way – you’ll get there eventually. Never give up!
