On Thursday 26 April 2018, The Restaurant at Sopwell House is hosting a gourmet Italian wine four-course tasting dinner with Fantinel winery – and you’re invited.

Head Chef of The Restaurant, Matthew Bird, has devised an innovative menu with Fantinel to showcase the very best of Italian wine. With its leafy countryside backdrop and beautiful Georgian building, Sopwell House makes the perfect city escape for the night. 

 The evening will commence with a canapé reception, followed by an amuse bouche and an imaginative four-course tasting menu, before concluding with coffee and petit fours.

The menu includes:
• Roast Quail with grapes, tarragon, pine nuts, and aged balsamic
• Wild Sea Bass with aubergine caviar, roasted fennel, pepper emulsion and courgette puree
• Taleggio with Masala poached figs and focaccia wafers
• Olive Oil Breton with pistachio panna cotta, orange gel and limoncello granita. 

Each course will be expertly matched with a different Fantinel wine, ranging from Grave del Fruili Sauvignon Blanc with the fish course and Collio Friulano with the dessert course.

Fantinel winery is a 340 hectare family-owned vineyard in the prestigious Friuli region of North East Italy. The internationally-recognised winery is famous for producing fresh, crisp wines with clean aromas and an elegant acidity.

Fantinel Brand Ambassador and Sommelier, Aleksandar Vuckovski, will be the guest speaker at the event; using his 15 years of experience in the industry to showcase his favourite recommendations and enthusiasm for wine.
